Whew! Here we are, our very first post. It all started as this grand idea of starting a blog with some of the best peers out there. We took an idea, developed a concept and then brought it to life! Now here we are, but where do we even start?!
Motherhood is hard. No matter who you are, how far into you are, no matter where you are. We all struggle at some point in our journey with motherhood. Add in life and work?! Chaos can ensue! Motherhood is also the deepest love you will ever feel.
What does it mean to be a mom?
There is no one size fits all in Motherhood. Each and every mother has a different experience. Motherhood doesn’t just happen if you birth a child. There are all different kinds of mothers out there, step moms, dog moms, adoptive moms, biological moms, stand-in moms, voluntary moms and so much more! What actually defines the word mom? Does it really only depend on biology?
This is such a taboo topic, no one answer is going to be correct, everyone will have a different opinion based on their experiences, culture, etc. At the end of the day, moms form a tribe. How typical is it to say ‘It takes a village.’ Well, it sure does. That village is right here and we can’t wait to explore mommin’ + livin’ + workin’ with you all. From trying to conceive, to pregnancy bloat to those first days breastfeeding (or not, we don’t judge!), to adoption, to teenage hormones (pass the wine already!). We are here for you and we are so excited to go down this messy, gross, not always perfect path to explore all things mom.
Now, one of our most favorite parts, the 'wine' and 'cheese' of the post brought to you by Sierra. My 'wine' for this week?? My fully potty trained daughter decided to pee directly in front of the toilet instead of on it, then she dumped her entire box of cereal on the floor (in good effort to get herself breakfast), then she let all the ice out of the ice maker on to our newly refinished hardwood floors. All on Monday... Within ten minutes of each other. God bless her heart. My 'cheese' I have the absolute BEST mother and father in law. We have three LARGE trees in our backyard which equals lots and lots of leaves. They came to my house raked all the leaves and disposed of them, all because it was supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so we 'would never get them all done soaking wet'. Listen, in laws can be rough, but I am blessed with some of the best!
A look at what’s to come-
Raise your hand if you have a kiddo in grade school (my hand is up). Raise your hand if you have done a parent/teacher conference via zoom (my hand is up). Raise your hand if your husband (or partner) joined a parent/teacher conference drinking a beer… while at a bar… (insert palm hitting face emoji here). Yup, it happened. Thank goodness the conference went well! Coming up soon on the blog- The Silver Lining of COVID don’t miss out, it’s bound to be funny.
Until next time, cheers!
