Well everyone, I don’t know about you but I am soooooooo ready for Christmas this year! I don’t know if it’s just that 2020 was…well…we will use the phrase “an unpleasant experience”...or if it’s that I got bit by that Christmas spirit bug but I’m feeling it! I want it all: decorations, lights, buying presents, and (maybe most of all) baking cookies. Just last weekend I went over to my mother-in-law’s and decorated cookies. I’m talking about frosting, sprinkles, the works… but that wasn’t enough for me. So needless to say, I’m on the hunt for some awesome recipes. Here are a few that I’ve found or tried!
My favorite Traditional cookie: Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie
Sometimes the simplest cookies are best! No matter if I’m baking for an army or just to stifle my sweet tooth, I always make these. It’s so convenient that the recipe is right there on the bag of chocolate chips and you know I always have chocolate chips in my pantry (if you're smart and don’t keep chocolate chips just laying around, the recipe is linked below)! The batter is so good (I know; we don’t judge, remember?) and the cookies are so great too! You can change up the recipe a bit to make them your own. My dad doesn’t like too much sweetness so I just omit the chocolate chips and they’re still so yummy. Sometimes I add oatmeal to give it a different texture. The possibilities are endless!

My Favorite Family Recipe Cookie: No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies AKA Granny’s Cookies
These. cookies. are. my. jam. We make these cookies for everything: birthdays, christmas, graduations, wednesdays, everything! My great-grandma, we call her Granny, is renowned for making these cookies. They can be a bit tricky to make so it was always a turning point when you’ve mastered making these cookies. You have to really measure out your butter and vanilla: too much makes them crumbly and too little makes them runny but they are always delicious despite their appearance. Our secret family recipe is a little different than this link but hopefully this one is just as good!
My Favorite Christmas Cookie: Peppermint Bark
I know… it’s not technically a cookie but come on, it’s so good! There is just something about peppermint that screams Christmas to me. I love getting peppermint bark as a gift and this year I am determined to make some for myself! This recipe I found is also microwave friendly so, if you’re like me and terrified of the double boiler, this recipe looks easy peasy. Plus you get the added benefit of some stress release when you smash up the candy canes. Double win for sure!
My Favorite Kid-Friendly Cookie: Reindeer Peanut Butter Blossoms
These are just so fun! The cookies themselves are one of my favs to make but adding the cute decorations to make them look like reindeer? Genius. And there are so many different ways you can make them. This one uses pretzels and peanut butter cups but you can also use rolos, candy eyeballs, or anything really to make the cute faces.
I don’t know about you but I’m so excited to get to work. I hope you are all hungry because I’m about to have cookies galore! If you need some, you know where to find me! ;)
Happy Baking!
